No One Left Behind Announces Endorsement of Effie Phillips-Staley for Congress in New York's 17th Congressional District

No One Left Behind is excited to announce our endorsement of Effie Phillips-Staley for Congress in New York’s 17th Congressional District.

"I am incredibly excited to have No One Left Behind's endorsement in this race,” said Phillips-Staley. “We are both focused on delivering for working people, fighting to center people over profits, and creating a government that works for all, not just an elite few. I'm glad to count on No One Left Behind's support for our grassroots campaign to deliver the progressive agenda we need to not only stop Trump and Mike Lawler, but to tackle the core problems that created and support them," Phillips-Staley continued.

Effie Guadalupe Phillips-Staley has spent her career fighting for people who deserve better. A seasoned nonprofit executive and community leader, she brings decades of experience in education, culture, disaster relief, and social justice - and a record of turning that experience into real results.

"Effie Phillips-Staley is exactly the kind of candidate No One Left Behind was built to support. She's not a career politician - she's someone who has spent decades doing the hard, unglamorous work of building stronger communities. NY-17 deserves a representative who understands that beating Mike Lawler isn't just about winning a seat - it's about proving that a bold, people-first agenda can win anywhere. Effie is the candidate to do that, and we're proud to stand with her," said Roza Calderon, Executive Director of No One Left Behind PAC.

Now in her third term as a Tarrytown Village Trustee, Effie works to make streets safer and more walkable, to advance housing affordability and rezoning to counter redlining, to strengthen local climate resilience, and to champion small businesses. She knows thriving communities are built by leaders willing to roll up their sleeves.

Effie has fought for justice in tough arenas. As Vice President for Strategic Advancement at the Hispanic Federation, she led fundraising for climate-related disaster relief in Puerto Rico and Hispanic social justice efforts nationwide. As Executive Director of the Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns, she pushed for expanded educational opportunities in a socioeconomically diverse, majority-Hispanic district through fundraising, community partnerships, and grantmaking. At The Kitchen, as Director of Capital and Institutional Advancement, she helped sustain one of New York’s most important experimental cultural institutions.
